Mompreneurship: Celebrating working moms beyond the hashtag

“Mompreneur: A woman who sets up and runs her own business in addition to caring for her children.” It sounds so simple when you define it in 20 words or less, and when you see celebrity moms effortlessly running their empire with their kid in one arm and a makeup brush in the other, it seems so chic and on trend.

But let’s face it – that’s not true mompreneurship. And we believe mompreneurs should be celebrated beyond the carefully curated selfies. We know that you barely have time to take a shower let alone spend three hours contouring your face. We know your kids aren’t preciously admiring you all day long – in fact, you’re probably cleaning up their mess as you’re reading this right now. And we know that “mompreneur” isn’t a chic hashtag – it’s an exhaustive journey in finding the right balance between work, family and you.

Women have an especially hard time finding the ability to declare themselves successful. You might have far exceeded your business building goals for the month, but the moment your kid scrapes their knee after you looked away for just a second, you might feel like a total failure. Give yourself a break. You are nailing it.

Mother’s Day is coming up and we have an awesome contest to give away a $1000 shopping spree to a special mom out there. We hope all the mompreneurs out there take time to celebrate themselves and for once, give yourself a pat on the back. In case you need a few extra words of encouragement this week, remember this:

There is no one-size-fits-all definition of success.

You’ve got to win in your mind before you win in your life.

Expect that you can do anything, but don’t expect yourself to do everything.

and finally, Thank you. Because you are the reasons why we shine.
